So much style, so much passion. BA really is a gem. And not a small one. With almost 3 million people it's definitely on the map. But somehow the inhabitants of this city have managed to maintain a laid back atmosphere.
Here too, as in almost all the really big cities I visit, it's been hard to choose the location for my photo. I fell in love immediately with San Telmo, the historical artistic neighborhood where there's tango dancing in the street, next to antique markets and cafe's with flamboyant people sipping their Argentinian wines. I spent days on end hanging around in the small cobblestoned streets taking snapshots of daily life, many of which can be found on my journal.
Although San Telmo is perfect for photography it's not so perfect for my project. The streets are very narrow with high buildings, which makes it hard to shoot wide-angle photos that don't end up with that typical tunnel vision that I try to avoid. So I had to go somewhere else. I bumped into the same problem in other places so I had to revert to wider places. I chose Plaza de Mayo. In the early mornings and late afternoon all the people that work in this business like area start to move back and forth again to their houses. Behind me is the square but it's this image with the broad avenue and zebra crossings that I liked. The buzz of the city can be experienced here very well.
But there's more, as always. So I had to go to Boca, the workers area to watch a Boca Juniors game, Maradona's club. They're not doing so well this season and also lost this match. But the typical party time in the Stadium was overwhelming.
After that I took time to explore a little more of this big country. I went down to Patagonia for horseback riding with friends. One of the most beautiful places I've been. Argentina, home of our Princess Maxima. I loved it.
