Ah, Tuvalu, what a marvelous place. Here things are what they are nowhere else. The tiny attol state of Tuvalu has the second smallest population in the world. Only the Vatican has less inhabitants. On the main Island of Fongafale lies the "capital" of the country called Funafuti. It has only around 4000 people and they are a very close society.

When the sun sets at the end of the day people come outoff the shade and join at the city's meeting place, the runway! Yes that's right, the national runway is in no time turned into what can only be discribed as an outdoor sportsfield where they start their rugbytrainings, cricketmatches and put up their volleyballnets. All on the runway. Planes? Only twice a week and everybody knows exactely when. It's the main event of the week. For safety the country's firetruck drives up and down the runway. When it's horn sounds for the third time the plane has arrived with family and friends. Everybody comes to see.

I ran from coast to coast on the island of Tuvalu. I took me three minutes. You can see the film on the Streets Youtube Channel linkend on this page. It was a quiet time on Tuvalu. It was a lovely time.
