It really sucks that I can’t spend more time here. There are so many beautiful things to see and do here. But Streets is about capitals. And about taking a photo in 4 days.
I pick this square because the streets in the old centre are so narrow. They’re really hard to capture with a wide angle. Elections are coming up which in Guatemala, and in the whole of Central America, is a sensitive issue and a nervous time. The streets are lined with posters of all the different candidates. Some of quite ill reputation.
While all this is going on life unfolds itself slowly on this square. The vendors are selling their goods, people go for a stroll or have a talk. Kids play and blow bubbles. Apart from some supporters handing out flyers, politics seem far away.
