If you think of Rwanda you think of genocide. When I arrive in Kigali, oddly enough I still expect to see dead bodies in the streets and Interahamwe militias wandering the streets in search of more murder and mutilation. Or maybe Tutsis before and after them. Indeed absurd as it happened in 1994, already 15 years ago.

Time has not stood still in Rwanda. From a seemingly endless depth, the Rwandans, divided but together in a way, have started to climb the long road that lies ahead. More and more people invest in Rwanda and the activity is visible. Like the man in the photo many people are still limping through the streets. The shadow of the past will but slowly disappear. But they walk on with a straight back and a strong pace.
