United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi

The United Arab Emirates is a strange union. Seven entities with their own history and views on the future forged into one state. With mighty Abu Dhabi as it's capital soaring over the endless desert of the Arabic peninsula. With Dubai as it's most commonly known smaller brother The U.A.E. has set itself on the global map clearly. The massive development of the past decades can't go unnoticed. Although Dubai has had a really tough time because of the credit cruch, Abu Dhabi was almost untouched because of it's massive oil reserves. The development of this capital is unescapable.

The young city has been raised from the ground in no time. Mainly built by a massive foreign worker force constituting of Indians, Pakistanis and Filipinos the city doesn't seem to stop expanding. The workers are everywhere covering their faces against the dust and revealing their personalities in this building machine. Their families are far away, the days are long and the pay is low. But still better than the alternative back home. And so this megalopolis grows. In a way it feels like Abu Dhabi doesn't really have the right to exist in this for humans so hostile environment. But it won't crumble and is here to stay.
