WHY?

To repel invaders, Enver Hoxha ‘bunkerised’ Albania, with nearly one bunker for each Albanian. The strong leader was not the kind to underestimate his enemies. The political elite lived near the pyramid, designed by Hoxha’s daughter and son-in-law. It was a museum to commemorate Hoxha, but now children use it to climb on.

WHAT?

This is a local girl sporting a V for Victory on her T-shirt. I always feel that the contradiction between very different eras, between hope and disillusion, is an interesting subject.
