WHY?
A de facto independent state, although many countries still don’t recognize Kosovo. Pristina is beautiful and more modern than I had anticipated after the violent wars fought here in the 1990s. I was impressed by so much resilience. It’s a true example of optimism, against all odds.
WHAT?
At least the Italian fashion label Benetton recognizes the country! Serbia’s oldest church is in Kosovo, believe it or not, but the population prefers to look at the skyscrapers. War? Never again! That’s what the population seems to exude, while kids enjoy this fountain.
