WHY?
This former soldier fled the country with his family. Although he was wounded several times during the war, he is still able to laugh and enjoy the way his wife and children found a temporary safe haven. I was impressed by the fun they could have, despite it all.
WHAT?
This is a temporary settlement in Lebanon’s Beka’a valley. In the background, you can see the Syrian mountains. When I took this picture more than half of the Syrian population (12 million!) was displaced and living in these conditions. Sadly, I found this scene more representative of the situation than street life in Damascus.
