Amsterdam, The Netherlands
I live here, so the choice was easy: a canal. During our too short summers, to me they are the symbol of freedom, tolerance, equal rights and relaxation, everything Amsterdam means to me. Or used to mean to me. My country has changed over the past years and I don’t like where it’s going. Of course, you may wonder how all this beauty was financed? Colonies and the slave trade had a big part in it, I’m afraid. Still, today the Netherlands is one of the best countries to live in and I’m proud to be a Dutchman!
While I was taking pictures, two boats ran into each other. Many ‘captains’ lose control of their ship due to a lack of experience or an excess of cold beers ... not so much the great explorers anymore. This little bath tub used to be a sailing boat. Have you noticed the glass of wine and the bottle-filled bucket? Smile!
