This nun is not on the street by mere coincidence. Togo is very religious; churches and mosques are everywhere, priests and nuns are very much respected and the majority of the population goes to mass on Sunday. In God they trust, but maybe there is not much else they can rely on? Around the corner is a large mosque.
The women are experts in carrying items on their heads. They are like living moving companies: almost anything will do – full buckets, bundles of clothing, hundreds of ladies’ handbags and much more. The women totally dominate this street art.
