WHY?
In Chad you are not allowed to take pictures in the streets, as they are considered of ‘strategic importance’ to the country. So I moved to this market where they sell the Tuareg’s pets. These proud animals are used for milk, meat, transportation and, every now and then, for racing.
WHAT?
‘The ship of the desert’. This ‘pet’ is not allowed to run off. Its legs are bound together with a plastic rope. Am I totally wrong, or does the one on the right slightly resemble Yoda? Nonetheless, it is a centuries-old partnership that makes life in the scorching heat of the desert possible.
