WHY?

Europeans like to visit Gambia, where they are respected and safe, except when political tensions, for example after presidential elections, dominate the news. It was nice to see how tourists and locals mingle easily on the streets, having fun without prejudice. It is almost surrounded by Senegal, which explains why Gambians may feel slightly suffocated.

WHAT?

This is the ferry across the Gambia river, that splits the country into two parts. The ferry is a floating street, needed for business and travel in this country. It is an essential artery in this strangely shaped country divided by the river. The ferry transports everything from one side of the country to the other.
