Algiers is known as ‘Alger la Blanche’ thanks to its many white houses, or as ‘the second Paris’ because of the French colonial buildings. It is a rather pleasant place, especially when walking along the Corniche. One almost forgets the brutal struggle that took place here for decades and ending finally in the independence of Algeria, which came at a high price.
