WHY?
No capital in the world lies further north than Reykjavik. Even in summer I saw snow, although it gets quite hot in this capital, as I was told by the Icelanders when I was there. About 2 degrees Celsius. Nature dominates life with all its power, which still forces men to become tough and strong, as in the old Viking days.
WHAT?
In Iceland, they still hunt whales, but tourists can also go out to sea to just take pictures of these gentle giants. These ‘hunters’ needed goggles and survival suits to live to tell the tale of the wet trip through the icy cold waves.
