WHY?
Liberia was ‘donated’ by America as a kind of compensation for the slavery of the past. Liberia was supposed to be uninhabited, but when the African Americans arrived they found tribes living there. The terrible irony of history is that the newcomers considered them subordinate and second-class citizens.
