WHY?

Thinking of Berlin, I somehow still imagined a divided City. But the opposite is true: people of all colours, races and religions mingle in bars, in cafés and on the streets, day and night. Berlin is one of the most relevant cultural and artistic melting pots in Europe, where the younger generations have found their place between the past and the future. 

WHAT?

This is the famous Tempelhof Airport that was built in 1927. After World War II, in 1948 and 1949, Tempelhof Airport was used for the famous Berlin Airlift, providing the city with much needed food and other supplies. A plane landed on this strip every three minutes on average for over a year. I couldn’t resist the weightlessness of flight in contrast with the heavy concrete, and the playful clouds offsetting the straight lines.
