WHY? 

Modern bureaucratic centres and a bridge over the Niger River. I’m always fascinated by this contradiction between old and new. Men are washing their clothes and teeth in the same dirty water. They must have strong constitutions. 

WHAT? 

I had been waiting for three days for a camel to come by. When one showed up at last, it wasn’t walking but running, and I almost missed it. Don’t ask me why I was so focused on a camel... I guess it’s a rather unusual sight to a Dutchman. It was just an idea that never left me.
